Karachi Elevated Expressway

The Karachi Elevated Expressway is situated in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. This project is under construction.

City District Government Karachi (CDGK) signed an agreement for the construction of 24-kilometer Elevated Expressway from Jinnah Bridge to Quaidabad, at a cost of $ 225 million. The project includes construction of a 24-kilometer long and 25-meter wide expressway having three lanes on each side. The elevated expressway will have six interchanges at Quaidabad inter-section, Star Gate, HIR Road, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Hotel Metropole and Jinnah Bridge (Native Jetty). The expressway should be constructed in three years time.

The agreement was signed between a Malaysian firm IJM Corporation Limited and City District Government Karachi on March 1, 2007. This is one of the biggest projects of CDGK. After completing this project the company will collect toll tax for a period of 15 years. The expressway will serve as the Southern Bypass and a link to Jinnah International Airport for the Port of Karachi.
